Ski Crash incident - Background

The lead Female celebrity Actor in Hollywood, Gwyneth Paltrow has been accused of causing grievous injury to optometrist Terry Sanderson as they collided with each other while skiing in the mountainside. Although the crash took place in 2016, Anderson filed a lawsuit after 3 years in 2019. Sanderson alleged that the accident with Paltrow has left him with a brain injury apart from broken ribs and trauma.

The Trial in Process

Lawrence Buhler, an attorney for Sanderson, began opening arguments by stating, “Distracted skiers cause crashes. Defendant Gwyneth Paltrow knew that looking up the mountain and to the side while skiing down the mountain was dangerous.”

Gwyneth’s attorney Stephen Owens told the jury that Sanderson’s claims that the actress bolted from the mountain after ramming into him were totally fabricated.

Gwyneth had also filed a lawsuit in reply, after almost a month later to Anderson’s lawsuit where she recounted the events leading to the crash. She described him being uphill from her and her family when he suddenly plowed into her back, delivering a “full body blow.” According to Gwyneth Paltrow, she was angry with Sanderson and he apologized.

In the lawsuit, Sanderson had claimed damages worth $3.1 million from Gwyneth Paltrow, but in May 2022, Third District Judge Kent Holmberg dismissed some of Sanderson’s claims against Paltrow, ruling that it was not a “hit-and-run ski crash,” according to the news outlet. The 76-year-old optometrist is now seeking $300,000 in damages.
