China is struggling to understand why there has been such a sharp increase in the number of new cases of the Covid-19 virus. On Tuesday, China Covid reported 3,101 new instances of the infection, which is an increase over the 2,722 cases reported the previous day. There were a total of 3,049 newly reported cases in the area, which is an increase of 393 from the 2,656 illnesses that were reported on Monday. At this time, there have been a total of 386,276 symptomatic cases that have been confirmed in mainland China. The National Health Commission reports suggest that there have been no additional deaths in the country that have been linked to the Covid-19 virus. According to a report by Reuters, the National Health Commission of China stated that the overall number of fatalities in China caused by coronavirus stands at 5,241.
Preparation in India
India has stepped up its efforts to get ready for any contingency in light of the recent outbreak of China Covid. To learn more about which new coronavirus variants might be going around, the Ministry of Health has asked all states to increase the number of genome sequencing tests that are done on positive cases that are being looked into by the INSACOG network. According to the statement made by the Center, all positive case samples should be delivered on a daily basis to INSACOG genome sequencing facilities that are mapped with all states and Union Territories. In the meantime, NK Arora, who is the chairman of the COVID-19 working group of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), stated that there is no need for alarm because Indians have something that is referred to as “hybrid immunity.”
