India vs SriLanka T20I: SL batters posted a challenging total

After Team India won the toss, the skipper Hardik Pandya asked the opponents to bat which actually got them to a phenomenal start with the very 2nd over fetching 19 runs thanks to the wayward bowling of Arshdeep Singh in the second India vs SriLanka T20I . However, Kushal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka were at their destructive best as they showed no respite to the Indian bowlers by smashing 49 runs in the first 5 overs without losing any wicket. The opening partnership fetched 80 runs in the first 8 overs before Kusal Mendis was trapped leg before by Chahal. A mini collapse of sorts that followed, saw another 3 wickets falling by the time another 30 runs were scored as the hosts fought back. However, with some mighty hitting by Charith Asalanka and later by Dasun Shanaka saw the team post a challenging 206 in their allotted 20 overs. Shanaka scored 56 runs in just 22 balls that included 6 sixes.

Team India suffered early jolts

Team India started poorly in their quest to overcome a more than challenging total as they lost the top 5 batters with just 57 runs on the board. However, SKY and Axar Patel consolidated together to build a 91run partnership which did allow a faint ray of hope to creep in. However, after SKY got out for a well compiled 51, it was upto Axar Patel and Shivam Mavi who played out of their skin to get the hosts over the line. Dasun Shanaka picked up both the players in a single over crushing all hopes for the hosts as a humiliating 16 run defeat was handed over to Team India almost single handedly by Dasun Shanaka who was the most impactful player of the match with both bat and ball.
