Richard Belzer sudden death ends a TV series cop legacy

Richard Belzer sudden death as the Cop-man of the Television, who was also a multi-dimensional personality and being casted as a comedian apart from the cop in “The X-Files”, “Homicide: Life on the Street” apart from being featured in “Saturday Night Live” left for his heavenly abode on Sunday, 19th February 2023 at home in Bozouls, France. Richard Belzer sudden death was first unveiled by comedian Laraine Newman who reportedly the first announced his death on Twitter. The actor Henry Winkler, Belzer’s cousin, wrote “Rest in peace Richard.”

Richard Belzer sudden death: Who was Richard Belzer?

The infamous TV artist of “The X-Files”, “Homicide: Life on the Street” fame was born in August, 1944 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Jewish parents. Richard had unveiled in a media interaction that his tryst with comedy began since his childhood where he had seen his mother being regularly abused physically and his incessant efforts put make her smile. It is said that, Richard’s mother was not only abused by his father, but also her elder brother.

Even though he Richard Belzer had started his college education in Dean Junior College located in Franklin, Massachusetts but dropped out in the middle of the course.

Richard’s road to Fame

Richard Belzer sudden death after a prosperous career in show business, began in the 70’s and carried on for the next 3 decades where he not only acted in TV series but also in films and Radio as well. He was casted in a few cameo rolls in Hollywood movies, was a featured player on the National Lampoon Radio Hour with co-stars John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, and Harold Ramis.

Before Richard Belzer sudden death In his last media interaction in Munich, Richard said, “It was a bit of a miracle how I got the part,” noting how Homicide executive producer Barry Levinson brought him in to read after hearing him on The Howard Stern Show. “I would never be a detective, but if I were, that’s how I’d be. The character’s very close to how I would be, they write to all my paranoia and anti-establishment dissidence and conspiracy theories.”

Even though he was born in US and worked there for the better part of his life, he had shifted to France later and had been critical of the US Govt. saying that the country is slowly turning to a Fascist State.
