Manchester United ended their 6 year trophy drought as they beat Newcastle 2-0 to lit the Carabao Cup in Wembley Stadium, London. Man United vs Newcastle match happened to be the first show-piece finale of the Domestic English Football season in 2022-23. Team United had emerged as the champions of any such high-profile club tournament 6 years ago in the 2016-17 season when they had claimed the UEFA Champions League with Jose Mourinho at the helm.

Newcastle, who were making their first appearance in a final after a gap of more than 4 decades, was very much overwhelmed by Manchester as Casemiro’s header got the Reds to draw first blood. Another successful attempt by Rashford sealed the deal for Manchester as an opponent was left wanting for answers to counter the Red’s pursuit.
