Metro accident in Bengaluru claims lives of mother and her child

A heart wrenching Metro accident in Bengaluru caused the death of a 28 years old woman and her two and half-year-old child rocked the Garden City today after a pillar structure under construction collapsed on a two-wheeler carrying twin toddlers and their parents. The father and twin sister have been seriously injured and are being treated at a nearby hospital, but the mother and the son succumbed to the injury on their way to the hospital after being seriously injured in the accident.

Metro accident in Bengaluru: Pillar structure collapse

The ongoing construction of the blue line route of Metro Railway , popularly referred to as Namma Metro in Bengaluru, caused a horrific accident today morning after an under-construction pillar structure of iron collapsed on a two-wheeler in the Outer Ring Road area of HBR Layout in Bengaluru , killing a toddler and her mother while and injuring the other twin sibling along with her father. The extent of the injury sustained by the mother and the toddler son was so grave that even before they could be treated in the nearby hospital, both of them breathed their last. The father of the child and the other sibling were lucky to have dodged death somehow and are being treated in a nearby hospital for the injuries sustained.

Damage Control Measures

No wonder, the cause of this accident can be attributed to the negligence at the construction site, politicians wasted no time in starting the blame game as they came out with their own interpretations on social media. However, the Managing Director of BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Railway Corporation Limited), Mr. Anjum Pervez has announced a compensation of Rs. 20 Lakhs to the family of the deceased and has also confirmed that the medical expenses of the injured will be borne by BMRCL. Also, a team from IISc (Indian Institute of Science) will be deployed to investigate the accident and submit a report on the same at the earliest.
